Whether your family wants to relax on the beach, visit theme parks, or have some adventure such as zip lining and ATVs. There’s something on this list for anyone looking for fantastic spring break destinations for families with teens.
1. Atlanta, GA
There is nothing like the city of Atlanta, aka Hotlanta. Its bustling streets throwing all types of vibes and out-of-this-world food will have you jumping for joy while in the ATL.
Families will love exploring Atlanta, especially if you’re not used to living in a bigger city. A vacation in Atlanta is an excellent spring break idea for a quick getaway with the fam.
Whether you come to ATL for shopping, touring, or good ole’ southern cuisine, it’s undoubtedly something here for everyone.
First, make a beeline for the World of Coca-Cola Museum. Georgia is home to Coca-Cola, so while here, learn the history behind the famous brand, see how they make the drinks, and take a stab at the interactive exhibits. You can even get a taste of their products from around the world.
Another fun activity to do with those tweens and teens is going to the Original Selfie Museum. Here they can have a ball taking amazing pictures with funny, pretty, and unique themes. It’s one of the most Instagrammable places to visit.
Next, you can catch a basketball game or concert at the famous Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Atlanta’s History
Aside from that, did you know that Atlanta is known for having some of the most prominent black figures and civil rights leaders? If this interests you, take a Black history walk around the city. An iconic monument to see is the Martin Luther King statue on MLK Drive. Plus, it’s cool to see Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King preached.
Atlanta is full of World history too. To learn more, take the family to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights for a nice history lesson.
Next, go shopping at Atlanta’s most popular malls, Lenox Square Mall, Phipps Plaza, or Buckhead Village District. You’ll be happy to pick up a few things that may not be available where you live.
Now, if your kids love sea life but are not quite ready for scuba diving, then visiting the Georgia Aquarium with the family is a must. They’ll see many animals and underwater creatures, including sharks and dolphins.
Then, for a fun outdoor activity with the family, stop by Skyline Park for the mini golf course, Skeeball, and many other games. Additionally, they have over 18 amusement rides and iconic city views of the city from THE ROOF.
The Food tho’
Now let’s talk about my favorite part of Atlanta. The FOOD
If you and your family are foodies, you will love Atlanta’s food scene. ATL has some of the best home-cooked southern cuisines you’ve ever had. The food down south I swear, feeds your soul.
Places to try the best-fried chicken are Paschal’s, Mary Mac’s Tea Room, and Busy Bee Cafe. Best Brunch spot IMO, Atlanta Breakfast Club, for delectable Peach Cobbler Chicken and Waffles.
If you want a late dinner snack, then eat JR Crickets. They have some of the best chicken wings, hands down!
Then, try ATL’s hot spot Slutty Vegan for the BEST vegan burgers, or have a hot dog at one of the most famous and largest drive-in restaurants –Varsity.
2. Washington, DC
For a different type of vacation, DC is the perfect place to go for spring break with families. It’s an excellent way for kids to learn more about history first-hand than just from their school’s textbook.
There are many things to see and do in Washington, DC. But first things first. You must see where the President resides at the White House. The White House is the #1 tourist attraction in DC, and I’m sure your kids will be amazed at seeing this famous house in person. Although you may not be able to go inside, it’s still cool to look at it in front of the gates.
Bus it Tour
In addition, we explored Washington, DC, on a Big Bus Tour. By taking a double-decker tour bus, you can get great views of the monuments while sitting down and relaxing. Probably my mom’s favorite part lol. Plus, they have live commentary or pre-recorded information about DC’s history.
Anywho, you can ride the red line, see the sites and hop off the bus anytime you are ready to wander on foot. Then once you’re ready to hit up another spot, jump back on the bus and continue exploring.
Now, hop off the bus and tour the National Mall Monuments. The Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial & Vietnam Veterans are in the area. Oh yeah, don’t forget to bring your walking shoes for exploring the area.
After that, you can take a guided tour of Capitol Hill. Book this tour in advance, so you don’t miss out.
Let’s explore the Museums
Furthermore, check out one or two of the Smithsonian Museums. There are several, and depending on what you like to see will help you determine which ones to visit. I recommend getting to the Museums early to avoid long lines and crowds.
Likewise, you have the National Museum of African American History and Culture, which my family loved. It took us through 3,000 years of history, from slavery and Harriet Tubman to Oprah Winfrey and President Barack Obama. It was insightful and intense. But it’s wonderful to see how “African Americans” culture and history are being pushed forward and being told.
Now, if you have younger children, let their imaginations run wild at the National Children’s Museum of Washington, DC. Kids will love seeing and participating in scientific demonstrations. They can be “hands-on” with the interactive exhibits, which let them climb, feel, design, play, and see science right before their eyes.
This museum is best for kids 12 and under, but let me be the first to say that you may enjoy being silly right along with them.
Besides history and culture, other places fun with families is the National Zoo, going kayaking, or taking a Potomac Boat Cruise ride around the city.
3. Virginia Beach, VA
With miles of golden sand stretching along the oceanfront, Virginia Beach is a remarkable spring break destination for families with teens. It’s the perfect spring break beach vacation in the U.S. that’s not too far to travel.
I lived in Hampton, Virginia, for 8 years, and Virginia Beach is for sure a hotspot for locals and visitors alike.
Here are some things to do along the Virginia Beach shorefront.
The beach itself is excellent for families to enjoy. Bring the buckets and scoops because VB’s sand is perfect for building sand castles. The kiddos can run around and collect sand for their creations. Plus, the family can swim in the water since the water is pretty calm.
Let the kiddos exert more energy by running around Grommet Island Park, and the teens and tweens can chill out by the beach. But if they’re up for some adventure, they can take some surfing lessons and catch some waves.
Additionally, get your adrenaline pumping while doing other water sports activities such as parasailing, jet skiing, snorkeling, you name it.
It’s more than Sand and Water
Besides that, your family can walk to Atlantic Fun Park and have a thrill swerving on the 16 fun rides, like the Flying Bob’s or Ferris Wheel. Then, play some carnival games at this family-friendly amusement park. Don’t worry; there are kiddie rides for the littles too.
Another attraction that people love at the beach is the huge boardwalk. You can walk along the boardwalk, which stretches for 3 miles. Then enjoy the scenery and stop for snow cones or ice cream at one of the many vendors you’ll pass by. The boardwalk is also known for people rollerblading and bicycling.
Then, you’ll run into the humongous King Neptune Statue, so don’t forget to snap a pic for the gram.
Next, take a stroll down Atlantic Ave, where you’ll find gift shops. Or you can rent a Surrey and cycle through the city on this fun ride with the family.
Now, if you’re looking for some aquatic ventures besides frolicking on the beach, then spend time at the Virginia Beach Aquarium. Here you’ll see hundreds of fish, including sharks and stingrays. Along with snakes, turtles, and lizards, you name it. It’s there!
Looking for something to eat? VA Beach is packed full of wonderful restaurants. If you are a seafood lover, you’ll be in heaven at the slew of seafood choices. But don’t worry; there are plenty of other restaurants that are also focused on farm-to-table food. From fine dining to casual quick bites, you’ll find delicious food to satisfy everyone’s appetite.
4. New Orleans – Spring Break Destination
The Big Easy. Yes, New Orleans. Going to New Orleans isn’t just about partying. You can have a blast here for spring break with your families too. I love that there is so much culture and history in New Orleans. It’s nothing quite like it with the French influences all around.
First, stroll to the French Quarter and visit the most popular area, Jackson Square. You’ll be surprised that this beautiful square is in New Orleans. Marvel at the historic St. Louis Cathedral built in 1727 and peek inside.
Also, on the beautifully manicured lawn, you’ll also see a statue honoring Major General Andrew Jackson. Plus, you’ll see many tourists, artists, and street performers in this area. Your family could ride the horse and buggies there as well.
Now across the street from Jackson Square is the famous Cafe’ Du Monde. You must go to this sought-after cafe for decedent beignets. Every Time I’ve visited, there’s a line out the door and down the sidewalk.
But don’t let that deter you because you can get your beignets to-go. Just walk around the back entrance. That’s a much quicker way to indulge in New Orleans’s favorite pastry.
Then walk up the steps next door and enjoy the amazing views overlooking Jackson Square.
Besides that, stroll through the French Market and eat lunch from one of the many stalls.
Let the Good Times Roll
One thing New Orleans is famous for is Mardi Gras. So why not see how it all got started? Your family will love visiting the Mardi Gras World if you are as intrigued about Mardi Gras as I am.
Here you will see behind the scenes how they create and craft their immaculate floats. Plus, you will learn some fascinating history of how Mardi Gras was started and where they are today.
On the other hand, another thing New Orleans is famous for is its amazing cajun food! Nawlings is a haven for seafood! So have a feast trying their specialty foods such as Shrimp Po-Boys, Oysters, Etouffee, Jambalaya, fried fish, Muffaletta, Gumbo, fried chicken, and famous Red Beans and Rice.
Um..umh, umph. So good! Oh, and you must go hunting to find some candied Pralines. A New Orleans specialty treat. It’s so good.
Like I said earlier, New Orleans is fun for the entire family. Just recently, I took my teenage daughter here, and she had a good time.
Continuing on, have fun shopping for unique souvenirs like mardi gras masks, voodoo dolls, gator teeth, and quirky/funny T-Shirts.
To avoid a ton of bars and drunk people, stroll down Royal Street instead of Bourbon Street. Royal Street has cute boutiques, art galleries, and shops.
Additionally, you’ll see your share of street performers while walking around New Orleans. It’s unique to see; some of them are talented, playing music, singing, and dancing.
Shoot, you might luck up and see a second-line dance, with a music band, and umbrellas, with people walking, waving their handkerchiefs to the beat while marching down the street. It’s a Party!
Some incredible Nawlins’ Tours and attractions
Take a ride down the Mississippi River on the Steamboat Natchez for a break from walking.
Add a gator hunting Swamp Tour to your itinerary for some exciting adventure.
Additionally, take a Ghost Sightseeing Walking tour around New Orleans to hear haunting tales of vampires and ghosts while walking to spooky sites.
Also, have a nostalgic moment and ride the famous St. Charles Streetcar through some beautiful neighborhoods like the Garden District.
Finally, if you want more history from this trip, then the WWII Museum is not to be missed.
5. Los Angeles, California – Spring Break Destination
California. Knows how to party. Y’all remember that song?
Nall, but for real, though, are you thinking you want sunshine, crazy nice weather, and beautiful beaches for your spring break destination? Then California should be high on your list of places to visit.
Cali has many cities worth visiting, but for now, we are going to LA.
The family will love visiting Universal Studios Hollywood to see where they make some of their favorite shows and movies.
Plus, if you want to have more exhilaration, ride some of the most thrilling rides at Universal Studios, such as Jurassic World, Transformers in 3D, and more.
After all that excitement, slow it down a bit and visit the Santa Monica Pier. You can enjoy some amusement park rides, play carnival games, and have some good mouth-watering carnival food.
Now, if you have some itty bitty kiddos, taking a trip to Disneyland may be the right move. What kid doesn’t like the iconic Disney characters, Minnie and Mickey Mouse, and our favorite Disney princesses?
Just note that if you go to Disneyland, you will spend your entire day or two there because it’s such a popular place to go, and the lines may be longer than expected. But hey, it’s worth it because the kids will remember this forever.
Famous people where you at?
You want to spot some Hollywood stars? Well, you may not run into one, but you can walk on them by going to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Find your favorite Hollywood stars and take a picture with their stars.
Now, I know teen girls would love going shopping on Rodeo Drive. Taking a walk down the famous Rodeo Drive is a must if you want to see luxury shopping stores and boutiques. I mean Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton, you name it.
Even if you cannot “afford” any of these luxury goods..like me, it’s still fun to window shop and dream about what you’ll look like wearing those luxury items. And you just might see a celebrity too.
Continue your journey through Beverly Hills, and you know, maybe you’ll spot Kyle Richards from the “Real Housewives”.
Now I did say that people love California for its beautiful beaches. And you can’t go to California and not visit at least one of the beaches. So why don’t you head on over to Venice Beach?
Venice Beach should be high on your radar since it’s a popular beach people frequent. From walking down the boardwalk, feeling the 70’s vibe of rolling blading, basking in the sun, and taking a dip in the ocean, there is something for everyone to do on this beach.
Aside from that, when it comes to visiting the West Coast, one thing you gotta try is the In and Out Burger fast food joint. It’s like a right of passage here or something.
Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)
Now, this right here is what I would love to see in LA. Why? Because of Ashton Kutcher in the No Strings Attached movie. I remember him and ole’ girl walking through the Urban light sculpture and thinking wow, that looks so cool.
And come to find out that the Urban Light Sculpture has become a symbol of LA. Not only that, but the LACMA is the biggest art museum on the West Coast.
Besides remaking the scenes from No Strings Attached, take your family to the Last Bookstore at DTLA and walk through the cool-looking tunnel of books.
Finally, go climb up the hill to see the Hollywood sign. Just make sure you research the route beforehand or take a guided tour. We don’t want you to get lost.
International Spring Break Destinations for Families in Central America, the Caribbean & Mexico
6. Guatemala – Spring Break Destination
Guatemala is a fabulous spring break destination for families with teens.
First, from all my research, I’ve seen that Guatemala is a country you can travel to if you’re on a budget. That’s a bonus and why my family is traveling there this year.
Additionally, you can experience Guatemala’s culture, rich history, and historical monuments.
Guatemala has so much to offer, and I’m sure you could spend months there, but for this spring break itinerary, you should stick to the highlights of experiencing this beautiful country.
The first thing that’s a top tourist attraction is the Tikal Mayans ruins near Flores. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. If you want to learn about the history of the ruins and the Mayan culture, it’s best to take a guided tour. You’ll also get a chance to climb up the historic pyramids if you choose.
Visit the City of Antigua
Then travel to Antigua, the former capital of Guatemala, and explore the colorful city. While here, you should walk around the cobbled stone streets and admire the gorgeous architecture.
In Antigua, you’ll get your share of seeing well-preserved colonial buildings. Including the most renowned landmark, the colorful “Yellowstone Arch of Santa Catalina”, built in the 17th century. You’ll be mesmerized while standing in the area with volcanoes looming in the background.
Additionally, discover the many Baroque-style churches and monasteries that make this part of Latin America special.
It’s worth visiting the Palacio de Los Capitanes Generales, which was a palace back in the 1500s. This magnificent historic building is now home to the Government’s offices and Police Station.
Now, when in a foreign country, it’s fun to find one-of-a-kind gifts to bring back home. One of the places to find great local gifts is Mercado de Artesanias. That’s just one, but there are many other Mayan Markets to check out.
Want an adrenaline rush, then take a hike up the Pacaya Volcano. It’s one of the most popular activities to do in Antigua. Plus, since it’s an active volcano, kids will get a kick out of roasting marshmallows in the lava. How cool is that?!
I recommend taking a hiking tour so they can guide you around carefully and safely. This tour on Get Your Guide is popular for its knowledgeable and experienced tour guides.
Visiting the shimmering lake
Next is taking a trip to Lake Atitlan. If you’ve seen reels on IG (check out mines), you’ll know how stunning this lake is and why it’s so popular.
The lake isn’t just for admiring, you can take the kiddos kayaking or paddle boarding for something fun to do.
And one thing you should do is stay the night in a room that offers incredible views of the Lake. Can you imagine waking up and seeing that first thing in the morning? I can.!
Besides enjoying the incredible lake, venture out a little and visit a few towns, such as San Pedro or San Marcos.
You know I have to throw in some more adventure on this trip. Take the fam on a zip-lining expedition. Or perhaps they’ll love touring the sites while on a mountain bike. They can get some exercise while exercising their brains. So corny…I know.
Next, take a sightseeing boat cruise across Lake Atitlan for a bit of relaxation. You’ll get spectacular views of the three volcanoes surrounding the lake. Then they’ll take you to explore the Tzutujil Village and see the locals.
If you have time, you must visit Hobbitenango. It’s a magical park of hobbit-style homes perched atop mountains with stunning views just 20 minutes outside of Antigua.
7. Costa Rica
In Costa Rica, you’ll experience tropical landscapes, gorgeous waterfalls, enchanting beaches, lush jungles, and spectacular volcanoes. Whatever type of spring break vacation your family is looking for, Costa Rica will be amazing for everyone.
Traveling to Costa Rica is one of the best spring break destinations for families with teens. And I’ve got you covered because I’m naming some of the most popular places to hit during your time here.
Costa Rica is in Central America, spanning 170 miles along the Pacific Coast, and is a good way to get your feet wet for international travel.
Now let’s talk about the best things to do in Costa Rica with family.
Waterfalls are lit
When in Costa Rica, chasing waterfalls is a no-brainer. First, go check out the La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park and see its glorious five waterfalls there. You can frolic through the water, bathe under the waterfalls, and take gorgeous photos.
Besides stunning waterfalls, Costa Rica is known for their extensive wildlife and species, especially the sloths and monkeys. Take your kids on a species hunt through the forest. The best way you can do this is by visiting a nature park.
Exploring Arenal and La Fortuna
Explore the Arenal area and hike to its iconic waterfall La Fortuna. Walk through the majestic rainforests. Take a hike to the Arenal Volcano and see panoramic views of Lava fields, jungles, and lakes.
You must take a break and lavishly Bathe in the thermal hot springs, such as Tabacon or Baldi Hot Springs.
If you want to do some of these activities, but prefer an expert guide to lead you, then I recommend taking this highly recommended tour.
Monteverde‘s got clout
Another popular area to visit is Monteverde. Monteverde is known for its Cloud forest Reserve.
Explore the reserve above the clouds by taking a canopy tour.
Then, ride the zip lines above the canopy forest for some adventure and thrills.
Additionally, your family can hike through the forest in its vast array of walkways.
Next, hang above the clouds at Selvatura Park as you walk across the 8 available tree top hanging bridges atop of trees. ATV’s
Then you have the Mistico Arenal. It has 16 hanging bridges that span over 1.6 miles. Walk along the bridges and see if you can spot the different species roaming, like sloths, monkeys, and birds.
Beach Please…
If you want some beach time, taking a trip to the most beautiful beaches is a must in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is known for their beaches as it sits along the Pacific Coastline.
Costa Rica is perfect for beach excursions, laying out, and basking in its beauty.
One famous beach here is Tamarindo Beach, known for its great surfing on its massive waves.
Then there’s Jaco beach, popular for water sports, thrilling activities, and nightlife, and it’s a quick getaway for San Jose’s natives. Here you can jump on ATVs, go paragliding, parasailing, and more!
Next up is Playa Samara beach, perfect for families who like the calmer waters and a quieter setting.
Other family-friendly beaches worth mentioning are Playa Flamingo and Playa Hermosa.
Finally, you have Manuel Antonio National Park. It’s not only known for its rainforests but also for its many incredible white sandy beaches too. Here’s a recommended tour to explore the compound or explore on your own if you want to just relax at the beach.
8. Los Cabos, Mexico
When you think of Cabo, what comes to your mind? Sun? Yes! Gorgeous beaches? Yes. Delicious Mexican food? Uh Yeah!
Well, you will be correct and in for a real treat. For a sunnier and warmer spring break destination, hop on over to Los Cabos, Mexico.
Cabo is a popular resort town, so you could stay in an all-inclusive resort if you want to kick back and decompress. Most all-inclusive resorts have live entertainment, pool games, bars, parties, and all types of things to do.
Yet, there are many activities in Cabo that are not at the resort.
Taking adventures is all we love to do
So if you want a lil’ action away from the resort, you ride on ATVs. I know I keep bringing it up, but my family LOVE riding 4X4s on our travels, and we were ecstatic to ride dune buggies in Cabo.
On this ATV adventure ride, you will off-road through the desert and hop over sand dunes, then you’ll divert over to Migriño Beach and drive down near the oceanfront and watch the enormous, beautiful waves crashing against the shore.
Riding ATVs is exhilarating! You’ll be kicking up dirt and zooming through puddles of water that stream from the mountainous rocks! How dope is that?
Baby Let’s Cruise
Next, you must take a boat ride to the famous El Arco. Also known as “Land’s End”, El Arco is a renowned natural landmark that must be seen by boat. The enormous rock formations are protruding out of the sea into the shape of an arc.
If you don’t do anything else in Cabo, a boat ride to the Arc is a must. Many companies can take you there, but we chose the fully clear boat ride with this company. In this boat you can see the tropical fish swimming around through the bottom and around.
Wanna see more sea life? Well, another awesome excursion to do is a whale-watching boat ride. Cabo is Notorious for housing these sea creatures. And it’ll be incredible to see them in person.
Now, if you guys haven’t gotten your thirst quenched yet for being on the gorgeous water, then taking a 4-hour boat cruise is a great option for the family.
Since sailing to the Arc is a quick ride in under an hour, taking a Catamaran around the sea will let you relax and take in the scenery. This boat cruise is highly rated by tourists on GYG.
Swim with whale sharks (Day Trip)
Another activity in high demand for visitors is swimming with whale sharks! This excursion will surely get your adrenaline pumping. Plus, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime excursion you should consider.
Get up close and personal as you take a boat ride to the middle of the ocean where the whale sharks are, then take turns jumping in the water and swimming beside them.
Now, this may not be for the faint of heart, as these creatures are huge, but if your family loves adventure, this may be the thing for you.
And what a terrific way to spend spring with the family. The kids will have so many stories to brag about once they head back to school. My daughter loves talking about her travels with friends.
All about the Beaches
Now, if you came to Cabo for the beach, then it’s time to jump in.
Just keep in mind that all of the beaches in Cabo aren’t swimmable beaches.
But the most popular beach you can swim in is Medano Beach. This beautiful white sandy beach is perfect for laying out, swimming, and catching sun rays.
Additionally, you can swim at Lover’s Beach for something a little bit secluded. However, you can’t just drive there or take a Taxi. You will have to visit these beaches by water taxi or a boat cruise.
Other things not to miss is taking a hike up Pedregal or Mt. Solmar for some good ole exercise and amazing views of Cabo.
Then you can do some leisurely activities like walking around the marina and shopping around the downtown area for special gifts. My daughter bought some beautifully crafted earrings in a shop. It was cool to see the guy making these crafts in the shop! So, grab a lil’ something to contribute to the locals. They really appreciate it.
Next up is my favorite. The food!
Now, who doesn’t like Mexican food? While here, you have to try some of the local cuisines outside of your resort. Even if you have an all-inclusive resort, still eat outside of your hotel at least once!
We had dinner at a traditional Mexican restaurant, Mi Casa, and the food and vibes were amazing. We witnessed a lady making freshly homemade tortillas, and they are BOMB!
9. Nassau, Bahamas – Spring Break Destination
The Bahamas is another island that your family will adore. The Bahamas is off the Southern Coast of Florida in the northwestern West Indies.
It’s an epic option for spring break destinations for families with teens. It’s an incredible island with pristine beaches, stunning clear-blue water, golden sand, and tropical weather.
My family took a cruise to the Bahamas years ago. Although we had incredible stops on our cruise, it wasn’t nearly enough time to experience all Nassau had to offer.
So, a cruise is a great option if you are short on time and want to ditch all the travel planning.
Anywho, when you arrive, you’ll think you’ve gone to heaven. But it’s not heaven. It’s Paradise on Earth.
There’s nothing like exploring the Caribbean islands. The vibes here just hit different; the people are nice and happy. Their lifestyle seems more laid-back with less stress. Making Nassau an ideal spot to get away and leave your worries behind, man.
Time for Vitamin Sea
Now, one of the main reasons people visit the Bahamas is for its stunning beaches. The crystal blue waters of Nassau’s beaches are unmatched. It doesn’t matter if you want to lay on the beach and catch some sun or go swimming. Your entire family will enjoy the beach.
Cable Beach is one of the most popular beaches here. Another one you can visit is Junkanoo Beach, which is near the cruise ship ports. Go here for a quick dive in the gorgeous turquoise clear waters after you dock. Then there’s Cabbage beach, another option to check out.
Nevertheless, there are also other beaches in Nassau, so it depends on what type of experience you’re looking for. But IMO, you can’t go wrong with either of these white sandy marvelous beaches.
While on the beaches, have fun doing water activities such as the banana boat ride if you dare. Or jump on jet skis, and have fun parasailing or snorkeling.
Furthermore, for a bit of history, take a stroll through Parliament Square. Seek out the colonial style colorful pink buildings of the House of Assembly, the Senate, and the Supreme Court.
Also, while you’re in the downtown area, walk down to Bay Street and go shopping at the Straw Market for authentic and hand-crafted souvenirs. Here, they’ll stitch or carve your name into a purse, bag, or products made of straw, fans, and wood crafts.
If you’d prefer a guide for this historical walk, then I recommend taking this Cultural Walking Tour.
The Atlantis Resort in Nassau is Crazy
The Atlantis is a luxury 5-star resort popular for its massive 141-acre Aquaventure Water Park that the whole family will love. The teens, tweens, and littles will love the jaw-dropping rollercoaster slides, 11 pools, 21 restaurants, and casino (for the adults of course).
Additionally, Atlantis has entertainment for everyone, from nightclubs to kids clubs; they really have it all.
If you aren’t staying there, you can reserve a day pass to enjoy some of the amenities at the waterpark, casino, and private beaches.
On another note, wanna see more historical things? Try walking up the Queen’s Staircase. This staircase is iconic and was built by slaves way – way back in the day as an escape for soldiers fleeing to safer forts in case of an attack.
Well, what about the food, you ask?
If you want some traditional Bahamian food, take the family down to Arawak Cay, AKA the Bahamian Fish Fry. This area is well known for its popular restaurants and food stalls, with authentic seafood being the headliner, from fish to lobster, and their ultimate specialty, conch.
10. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
DR is one of the top destinations to visit in the Caribbean from the US. This island is stunning, with miles and miles of white sandy beaches, gorgeous sunny weather, and luxury resorts.
If you’re the type of family that loves all-inclusive resorts right on the beach, then Punta Cana is the perfect spring break destination for your family.
Because Punta Cana is a resort haven from budget-friendly to all-inclusive luxury resorts, there is a lil’ something here for all budgets.
There are plenty of things to do at the resorts where you don’t have to go anywhere. Since most of the resorts are situated right on the beach, you can throw on your swimsuit and walk there within minutes.
Recommend hotel: Hard Rock Hotel (Where we stayed)
At the Hard Rock, they have everything on site, from tons of restaurants, pools, and luxurious spas. Literally the best spa experience I ever had. Then there’s the nightclubs and shows for everyone. Everything is right there.
Mingle with the Dominicans
However, if you want to see outside the luxury resort, have a more profound cultural experience, and learn about DR, then check out some tours.
The Buggies and Polaris Adventure Tour that we took covered so much ground. This tour took us to Punta Cana’s countryside. You’ll see how the locals live and get a chance to walk in a Dominican home.
Also, you’ll visit a Dominican plantation and see how they grow coffee beans, tobacco, and cocoa. While at the plantation, you can contribute to the community by purchasing organic products like coconut oil, vanilla extract, coffee, wine, etc.
Additionally, they’ll take you to Macao Beach, where you can swim in the beautiful crystal waters. Next, you’ll have a few minutes to swim in a cave at Cenote Taina.
Oh, did I forget to mention that this tour includes “jumping on dune buggies and driving” to most of these sites?! Yes! Pretty cool, right??
Click here to see rates and availability for this Buggies and Polaris Adventure Tour
If the kids want to experience even more adventure in Punta Cana, I recommend booking this tour to Scape Park for the day. This natural ecosystem theme park has it all. There you can zip-line down a cliff, swim in hidden cenotes, and plunge into the pool from water zip-lines! Whoah!
Other popular tours worth mentioning are Catamaran Boat Cruise to Saona Island and a trip to Monkey Land.
International spring break destinations for families with Teens in Europe
11. Rome, Italy
If Europe is on your mind for spring break destinations for families, consider traveling to Rome, Italy.
Rome is the best place for history and culture, and historical monuments. Your kids will be astonished at the beauty of the ancient monuments, cobblestone squares, and delicious food.
Visiting Rome is an excellent way for teens to learn some history through travel. It brings awareness and helps kids become more cultured by seeing these marvelous places in person.
Although the city of Rome is like a walking museum, there are lots of fun things to do in Rome with the family too. If this is your first time in Rome, you’ll definitely want to hit up the top tourist attractions.
Therefore, one of the first things to do is visit the Colosseum, where the gladiators fought and entertained spectators.
After that, make your way over to walk around the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
I recommend booking this tour: Guided Tour of Colosseum Underground, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill because without a guide, it may be difficult to understand what you’re looking at since these are thousands of years old ruins.
Stunning Fountains and the Pope
Next, have fun with the family by visiting the stunning Trevi Fountain. It’s a tradition for visitors to toss a coin in the waters in hopes of returning to Rome.
Next, check out Vatican City. The must-see places in Vatican City are St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and Sistine Chapel.
Kids and teens will enjoy climbing the St. Peter’s Basilica Dome in St. Peter’s Square. You should purchase tickets in advance to skip the lines.

The next thing to do is visit the Vatican Museum. The Vatican Museums is known worldwide, of course, and it’s been home to the most elite Popes since the 14th century. Plus the Vatican Museums has some of the most famous artwork in the world!
I recommend booking this tour: Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel Guided Tour.
Zoom..Zoom
After all that history and beautiful artwork, it’s time to have some thrills. If you have teens, they will love driving Vespas around the city. On this motorized scooter, you can take a guided tour to the most iconic spots in Rome.
Let’s Eat
On top of that, don’t forget to Eat your way through Rome. They are the culinary capital and a chef’s dream, and the family will love eating FRESH pizza and pasta.
But it doesn’t end there. Let them savor their sweet tooth by indulging in a sweet treat they call Gelato. This velvety gelato ice cream will have them returning for more.
For another type of food experience, take a cooking class with your kids and learn how to cook Italian pizza and pasta. It’s a unique and great bonding experience to have with the family.
Last but not least, one of the BEST things to do with families in Rome is take a food tour. Going on a food tour will allow you to try different foods the city offers. Plus, you’ll be with a small group that helps your kids and teens to talk to other people and not be bored while being with just the family.
Our food tour was amazing because we could walk around the city, learn some history about the different areas and go to eateries that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
We recommend this Rome Street Food Tour. Our guide, Claudia, is a local who is very knowledgeable about the city. Plus, the fact that she’s very entertaining and funny was “icing on the cake”.

12. Lisbon, Portugal – Spring Break Destination
Portugal is a beautiful country to spend your time in for spring break. If you want to see an old city filled with charming neighborhoods, cobblestone streets, and magical historical sites, then you are in the right place.
Get to know Lisbon and its culture by taking a Lisbon City Tour. The guides are very informative about their country and will take you to the city’s highlights and most important monuments.
One of the stops along the tour is the Parque Eduardo VII. Here, you’ll get a magnificent view of the park garden and the city.
In addition to that, you must visit the Castelo de São Jorge. This castle is the most famous landmark in Lisbon. Here you will get even more stunning views of the entire city on the castle hill.

Next, get panoramic views of the city from the incredible Miradouro da Senhora do Monte viewpoint.
Also, don’t forget about scoping out Belem Tower. It’s a UNESCO historical site built in the 15th Century.
We love to eat. Eat, Eat
If you’ve been reading my article up to this point, then you shouldn’t be surprised by this next one.
One of the best things to experience with your family in Lisbon is to take a food tour. Walk through the charming neighborhoods as you eat your way through Lisbon.
I highly recommend this food tour with Treasures of Lisboa. Our guide was incredible, and we had a blast with her and the other tourists. She is very knowledgeable and personable, and she took us to the best places to eat in the city.
While on tour, immerse yourself in the Portuguese culture by sampling their traditional food and drinks. My family and I love going on food tours. We get to meet other travelers from around the world and have one on one conversations with the locals.
Take a Magical Day Trip
Another thing to check off your spring break bucket list is visiting the dreamiest castle, Pena Palace. Pena Palace is in the quaint city of Sintra, Lisbon. The charming small town of Sintra is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Plus, Pena Palace is the most visited landmark in Sintra, Portugal. This fairytale Palace of vibrant colors is stunning. It’s just 18 miles from Lisbon, making this a perfect day trip.
I recommend taking this tour, which will pick you up and take you to Pena Palace, the cliffs of Cabo da Roca, and Cascais.
Next, for lunch or dinner, head over to the Time Out Market for casual eating, where the family will have their fair share of food choices from different restaurants.
Furthermore, walk around the Alfama neighborhood, then head to Miradouro das Portas do Sol to get more spectacular views of the beautiful red rooftops and waterfront.
The Streets are beautiful but…
As you can see, you can get astonishing views all around Lisbon. So, keep in mind that Lisbon is a very hilly city. There are tons of hills and stairs to climb to get around. So just be prepared for that.
Last but not least, before jumping back on that plane to go home, you absolutely must eat Pastel de Natas at Pasteis de Belem. It’s Portuguese custard pastries topped with powdered sugar that’s ooeey, gooey, and scrumptious.
13. Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is a picturesque Mediterranean city in Spain that has a distinct culture, history, and stunning buildings.
One of the best things to do in Barcelona is to visit some of Antonio Gaudi’s creations.
Antonio Gaudi was an architectural genius, and you’ll see why.
Start your day off touring the Sagrada Familia. The architecture of this cathedral is mind-blowing, making it such a prominent landmark. You will be in awe at the intrinsic details of this church.
To get the most out of learning the ins and outs of the cathedral, I recommend taking a Skip-the-Line Guided Tour. If you don’t want to take a tour, I still recommend buying your tickets in advance.
Gaudi runs this town
Besides Sagrad Familia, Gaudi has other iconic buildings around Barcelona, including his houses. Specifically, Casa Mila and Casa Batllo are houses of a particular theme, with ghost-like architectural details and colors. How he dreamed up these odd but unique ideas is mind-blowing.
Another creation of his that is surely not to be missed is Park Guell. Your little ones and teens will love seeing the vibrant colors with the cartoonish structures. As well as the gingerbread-style houses he created. Take a stroll around the park and bask in the beauty of it all.
Make sure to get your tickets in advance, or you may miss out.
Next, head over to Las Ramblas, the most famous street in Barcelona. You’ll pass by many shops, restaurants, street entertainers, artists, and musicians. It’s a famous street where you’ll see all types of people and thangs…lol.
After that, go shopping in La Boqueria market. It’s the biggest market in Barcelona and a popular spot you must see. Open markets are cool to shop in around the world because you can find fresh local produce, try foods you’ve never eaten before, and talk to the locals and learn a lot from them too.
Then taking a casual walk around the Gothic Quarter will be a treat; seeing the neo-gothic homes and architecture is a must.
Besides that, we also did the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour in Barcelona, which was very helpful. They have over 40 stops taking you to the major attractions such as the Barcelona Port, Park Guell, Museums, coastal beaches, etc.

Live Dancing and Singing
Ready for a night out? Think about going to dinner and a show. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a flamenco show. We were immersed in their Spanish culture while listening to them sing and dance beautifully. The men were playing their instruments while the women danced their hearts out in their traditional flamenco skirts.
The show we attended is in a historic location in the Las Ramblas district and is an intimate affair and a very delightful show. My daughter enjoyed it as well, I believe she was 13 at the time. We booked the dinner with the show and the food was the best we had during our entire stay.

Additionally, you can do an electric bike tour to see some sites while the wind blows through your hair. Besides, kids love operating a mode of transportation themselves; rather it’s biking or scooting. Lastly, don’t miss taking the family on a cable car ride to get unique views of the city from above.
14. London, England
London is named the best city in the World to travel to in 2023. Making it the perfect spring break destination for families with teens. There are loads of things to see and do in London. From visiting iconic sites to watching incredible shows on broadway.
London is a diverse city with a unique culture, and people from all walks of life are in London. I’ve lived in the United Kingdom for five years, and a trip to London was a treat for my family. Every single time we jumped on a train to London, we saw something new.
Spring is a special time in London because the sun starts to come out, and people are happier because the gloomy weather has decreased.
Incredible sites in London
If it’s your first time in London, I’d suggest hitting up the most popular tourist sites in London.
First, you should go to Buckingham Palace and look outside the golden gates.
Then, take a tour inside the Tower of London compounds and see the Crown Jewels of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Next, your kids will love riding on the popular London Eye overlooking the River Thames. It’s similar to a Ferris Wheel, but you’ll get in a see-through enclosed dome that can fit up to 25 people inside.
If your family are big Harry Potter fans, you must go to the Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio Tour.
Don’t miss taking a walk through Chinatown and grab some grub, then head over to Covent Garden, one of my favorite areas in the city. There are always street entertainers in the piazza and cool booths to shop at in the Apple Market. Plus, there’s some of the best Instagrammable desserts you’ll ever try.
Not to mention, London is another remarkable city to take a Big Bus sightseeing tour. That way you can see all the sites of London and get to know this electrifying city better.
So many options in Europe
Another dope thing I love about traveling in Europe is that, if you get a little tired of London (which I don’t think you will), you can jump on the train and visit other cities within the UK.
Alternatively, you can take the Eurostar train for a quick trip to Paris. The options are endless in Europe.
I could go on and on about London but for more itineraries, check out these posts.

I highly recommend this Luxury Catamaran Boat Cruise, it is awesome!!
Additionally, get a glimpse of what this island’s nature life is all about at the Jardin Botanico botanical garden.
