What is ROAM Luggage?
It all started with two co-executives at TUMI that wanted to stand out in the crowd while traveling. Tired of the same old boring traditional black luggage, they wanted their luggage to show a bit of their personality and personal style. That’s when they came together to create ROAM luggage.
The creators Clifford and Lein, are no rookies in the travel luggage game. As you can see, they have been in the industry for decades. So when it comes to luggage, they know what they’re talking about. Now let’s get into why ROAM luggage is so impressive.
ROAM is the only luxury luggage brand that is fully color customizable. With millions of color combinations available, you’ll surely stand out from the crowd and UP your luggage-style game! You can customize your luggage, from the outer shells down to the zipper color. Let’s dive in for more details.

About ROAM’s Carry-On Luggage
The ROAM Carry-On luggage size is suitable for all primary US airlines. It’s 22″h x 14.25″w x 9″d, weighs only 7.3 pounds, and its capacity is 37-51 liters.
Additionally, ROAM’s creators use the best quality material for crafting their luggage. The luggage is made of a 100% polycarbonate shell, making it durable, tough, and light.
Also, ROAM has a lifetime limited warranty against non-cosmetic damages such as improper baggage handling, cracks, broken zippers, wheels, handles, or fabric tears.
Plus, they are so sure about the quality of their luggage that you can even try it for 100 days for free. And if you don’t think it’s for you, you can send it back.
Another notable fact is they make all of their luggage at a factory in Vidalia, GA. Who doesn’t want a made-in-the-USA product?
Since it’s made in America, it allows them to make colorful and quality luggage while getting shipped out to the customers sooner. Plus, it keeps jobs right here in the US. That’s a win-win for everyone.
Design Process – How to customize ROAM’s luggage?
It’s quite easy to customize ROAM’s luggage to your liking. First, go to ROAM’s website, then choose which type of luggage you want to purchase. They have the Carry-On, Large Carry-On, Check-In, and Large Check-In.
Next, start designing the outer shells by choosing a color. ROAM’s luggage has an array of colors to choose from, including their newest color palette, Carolina Lilac, Ibiza Sky, Seville Orange, and Toledo Red.
After that, pick what color you want for the zipper, binding, wheels, carry handles, and the monogram patch. How cool is this? You can customize your luggage down to the color of the ZIPPER! Whoah!
My Customization
I chose the Carry-On luggage and picked one of the newest colors (Carolina Lilac) for the front shell, zipper, and monogram patch. Then one of the original colors (Glasgow gray) for the back shell. Yes, guys and gals you can mix and match your front and back shells.
The cool thing about customizing your luggage on ROAM’s website is you can see exactly how your luggage will look in “real time“. So you can play with the colors and decide which color combination best fits your unique style.
Oh yeah, don’t forget to include your initials on the Monogram patch for FREE engraving before you check out.
That’s it. Super simple to customize.

ROAM Luggage Review & What’s Inside
This was my first time ordering luggage online and my VERY VERY first time having CUSTOMIZABLE luggage! It took a little over two weeks to ship. I ordered mine the weekend before Thanksgiving, so that could be why it took a little longer. However, I was excited to receive my unique customized ROAM luggage in the mail.
My first impression was that it is very pretty and lightweight. Plus, it comes with this cute dust bag to protect the outer shell of the luggage. I love the Carolina Lilac color on the outer shell and zipper. I like how feminine it looks and how it fits my style. Most suitcases are dark, dreary, and just not that impressive.
But my ROAM Carry-On is a Showstopper!
Therefore, when I’m flying to go on my next vacation and dressed down to the 9’s, my luggage will look just as good as I am. It’ll make me feel more luxurious rolling through the airport with my custom luggage.
Packing with ROAM luggage
Now, to test this bad girl out, I started to do some packing. I wanted to see just how much I could fit in my ROAM carry-on. Instantly, I could pack 4 pairs of jeans, 4 shirts, 2 dresses, 2 shoes, and toiletries in this bag. That’s pretty good for a carry-on bag. Especially when taking a carry-on bag on flights is the only thing I can afford these days…LOL.
In addition, ROAM’s luggage comes with Compression Boards to help make more room for your items. The thing I love about this is that it keeps everything in place much better. Since it has dual sides, your items on the left side won’t slip out, and vice versa.
I’ve had hard-shell luggage in the past, and it was difficult keeping things in order unless I had everything in a packing cube.
However, all you have to do is place the compression boards in your luggage last, then tighten the straps over it. It’ll hold everything in place.
Additionally, the compression boards have pockets on the front to keep items separately like undies, important papers, socks, etc.
But wait there’s more
Now, when I first picked up the luggage, I couldn’t get over how light it is. Even when I packed it with my clothes, it is still lighter than my previous Carry-On luggage I’ve had before.
On top of that, the wheels on the carry-on are easy to roll on the floor. Its 360-degree ball-bearing wheels glide on the floors so effortlessly. I can spin the luggage around with no problems.
Pros
- Customizable
- Vibrant UPDATED color palette (especially the new colors Carolina Lilac, Ibiza Sky, and Toledo Red)
- Lightweight
- Sturdy
- Compression boards
- The telescoping handle adjusts to 4 heights
Cons
- More expensive than some other brands
- Take more time to receive the customized bag (unless you pay the extra fee for expedited shipping)
- Not as deep as some other hard shell carry-on’s
Is ROAM’s luggage worth it?
Overall, I love my new ROAM Carry-On Luggage. I’m a girl that like pretty things that fits my style. Not only is ROAM’s luggage pretty, but it’s also lightweight, sturdy, reliable, and functional.
Although it comes at a slightly higher price tag, you can’t deny how special you’ll feel with this beautiful piece of luggage. I cannot wait to take my stunning customized ROAM luggage on my next trip to Cabo, Mexico.
